MOTORISTS and road users in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, have appealed to the state government to urgently provide a lasting solution to some failed portion of the dualized Isoko road in the metropolis to avoid lost of lives.
The called was made following the failed portions of the Isoko road by Eco Bank that have caved in posing a potential danger to life and properties.
Speaking, a tricycle rider, Mr Daniel said, “The current state of that portion of Isoko road by Eco Bank that has caved in,needs emergency rehabilitation and we are begging the government to rescue us from this eminent danger.
According to him, “Initially it was one portion and it was was not too bad but now two other places have caved in and a motor tyre is placed in one of the bad portions to avoid accident.

“But on a daily basis we are noticing that the caved in portions are gradually getting worse than they used to be and if urgent action is not taken, the road will cut into two.
“It was not take much to put that place in other if the government want to rehabilitate the bad portion and it is our pleasure that they should be of help and work on the bad portion.
“It should not be a norm that it is only when a person of high personality died that roads are partially rehabilitated in Ughelli North.” He stated.

Another road user, Mr Charles Emmanuel said, “This bad portion of the road is what the Bank can conveniently work on as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility and it will not take much from the organization.
“Corporate Social Responsibility of any financial institutions is not just for finance alone as it includes to helping the government to build a better society which roads are part of.
“The government alone cannot do it and I am particularly appealing to the institution to help the government in fixing the road.
“I am very much aware that government officials within Ughelli play this road either to their offices or Asaba on daily basis but it is not enough to say the government must fixed it.
“We are aware of other roads that are in bad condition in Ughelli but the Isoko road should be given the priority especially now that Julius Berger is constructing flyover at Otovwodo axis of the East West road in Ughelli and vehicles are being diverted to pass through other routes.”
